Karda Estra is fronted by Richard Wileman and have released 14 albums since the start in the late 90`s. Wileman is from Swidon in UK and is a multi-instrumentalist and composer and he have made Karda Estrada to a highly original band.
Karda Estra is an very competent group of British musicians who create music that often combines the dark spirit of the Eastern Europe ethnic sound (present in the use of Bazouki and Rastrophone) with the skills of the most pristine symphonic prog. The music is often complex and with well-developed orchestral arrangements that create an atmosphere of mystery and obscurity enhanced by the haunting chorals.
Richard Wileman who is inspired with the 1800’s Gothic Revival and created this neo classical – progressive project Karda Estra to exploit that dark mood that most prog followers love so much.
In addition he now have released his first solo album that explore many different musical marks than Karda Estra reasonable enough. The solo album is called Veil, and have many different source of inspiration. Weird soundtracks, easy listening and library music, art pop and prog rock etc. Wileman first solo album features new songs and instrumentals plus some rearrangements of Karda Estra pieces that can fit into a live setting. The tune Three Occultations have Amy Fry on vocal and Lauraine Phelan on trumpet and this two lady’s also play with Wileman in Karda Estra.
