Five tunes is what the progressive band Ifsounds deliver on their new album An Gorta Mór, and the title track is an epic duration for over 22 minutes. Ifsounds is based in the town Petacciato in the southern part of Italy. Petaccito is a small municipality of Molise coast which has no more than 3488 inhabitants, is situated on a green hill at 225 m. 5 of the 3488 plays in the band Ifsounds, 0,14 % thus. Fabio De Libertis – bass guitar, Runal – lead vocals, Dario Lastella – guitars and vocals, Claudio Lapenna – keyboards and vocals, Lino Mesina – drums. The band have excisted since 1993.
The ifsounds project brings together the talents of a group of musicians, all very different from each other, whose idea is to create a sound that is able to express an emotion, to describe a state of mind, to recount a story, to make a journey into the realms of inner consciousness. ifsounds are the images of their dreams and their nightmares. Music is just the shape they give to their stories, their hopes and of their fears.
The aim of ifsounds is to reproduce not only the world around them, but above all the world inside them, because each of them is the author of their own reality and their own existence. The band started its activity in 1993 playing covers (from Pink Floyd, Queen, Police, etc.) and some new composition. An Gorta Mór it’s the 6th album from Ifsounds and featuring many guests during the recordings. One of them, the keyboard player Lino Giugliano, joins the band for live exibitions. An Gorta Mór means The Great Famine translated from old Irish to English as far as I can understand.
