Gothik Serpent: Modern and progressive
Gothik Serpent – Usurper

To paraphrase Robert Fripp, Gothik Serpent is a way of doing things. The sound of this project is best described as modern, progressive, and album-oriented, with songs that are highly composed and musically dense. Gothik Serpent songwriter, bassist and stickist, Kerwin Tsang, has been playing music for seven years. His last effort Usurper has now been released, and again Gothik Serpent delivers a bunch of very tasteful and nice tunes.
The new record is the third album by Gothik Serpent is the spiritual continuation of the storyline established in Interloper and Extremist. Interloper presented a narrative of the old world, Extremist told a tale of warfare, and finally, Usurper presents a story of the new world that has risen from the ashes of destruction. It is an upbeat, optimistic sounding record that is carefully balanced by subtle lyrics that suggest that new beginnings are always tainted with sins of the past. Kerwin Tsang lives in USA as far as I could understand but is from Singapore.
