Dave Sinclair’s 2018 studio release Out Of Sinc is one minute longer than a hour! Included is the 18 minute career highlight Home Again, the Kevin Ayers’ tribute Rings Around The Moon, and If I Run which dates back to 1971 when Sinclair was working with Robert Wyatt in Matching Mole. Dave Sinclair is by all means a legend in progressive music. He plays keyboards and is a songwriter that played a massive part in classic albums such as Caravan’s legendary Land Of Grey & Pink!
Dave Sinclair’s career as a songwriter and keyboard player now spans over 50 years, during which time he has played and composed in various bands such as: Caravan, Camel, Matching Mole and Hatfield & The North – indeed members of Camel and Caravan feature on this album!
Since Sinclair`s departure from Caravan in 2002, and then relocating to Japan, he has made a series of excellent solo albums culminating in this his latest, where he explores a whole range of musical genres including rock, jazz, blues, classical, choral, folk and pop. This is particularly noticeable in his epic 18-minute long track: Home Again which he feels surpasses even his best-known compositions, For Richard and Nine Feet Underground.
There are many great musicians playing alongside Sinclair on this album, thereby adding a rich variety of colors, sounds and dynamics, Dave Sinclair (lead & backing vocals / keyboards), Yammy (lead vocals / chorus), Jim Bashford (drums), Larry Fujimoto (electric bass / percussion), Akira Nomoto (conga / percussion), Pye Hastings (acoustic guitar), Takuya Yada (acoustic & electric guitar), John Murphy (electric guitar), Andy Latimer (electric guitar), Doug Boyle (electric guitar), Billie Bottle (acoustic guitar), Martine Waltier (violin), Geoffrey Richardson (viola), Sho Iwaassa (Irish flute / Tin Whistle), Tony Coe (clarinet), Fujio Inoue (alto sax), Marvin Mots (cello), Nick Sinclair (nicstick) and Derby Cathedral Choir conducted by Tom Corfield.
