Southport today is still one of the most popular seaside resorts in the UK, and the band from the town Ecthirion is rapidly being more and more popular. The band play an orchestral progressive power metal with elements of folk and eastern music. The band consists of Gabriel Neale on guitars, bass and backing vocals, and Hannah Neale on vocal. Like many other bands, the new album Psalm Of The Risen Dead is packed with guest artists.
For instance Azahel Frost-from Frost Like Ashes on black metal vocals, Dave Cooney from Jorvik with harsh vocals, and Jo Edwards with classical vocals. In addition there are guest artists playing flute, piccolo, French horn, trombone, piano etc. Psalm Of The Risen Dead is Echtirion debut album, but this is really an ambitious piece of music. On Eagle’s Wings is the official lyric video.
With nice riffy guitars and intense drumming, Psalms Of The Risen Dead is an exciting journey for many listener to embark on, with lyrical themes of personal struggle, death, conquering sin and the brevity of life.
Ecthirion was founded in 2008 and releasing their debut EP on Soundmass in 2009, Ecthirion have been slowly and meticulously working on their follow-up ever since and finally the debut album is out. The band has a broad range of influences and contrasts, and the aim has always been to create unique and thought-provoking compositions, both musically and lyrically. You will hear elements of power metal, death metal and even tech death, with Eastern and folk influences bringing variety. Also very much inspired by nature, some songs are reflective of raging torrents, while others are brooding and serene.
