In the middle of January the Barcelona band Cheeto’s Magazine will release the album Amazingous. The band has some similarity with Spock`s Beard and play a symphonic contemporay style prog. They also add some humor and it’s very entertaining, and it’s refreshing how these guys plays their music. In a genre that sometimes are too serious they practice without taking it too seriously. Well played prog with a bit fun factor is mostly interesting. The new album comes in blue double vinyl gatefold, CD jewel case and digital and are available February 15th.
Amazingous has a durates at 65 minutes, and that is much music. The band was established in summer 2005, Esteban Navarro (keys and lead vocals and Manel Orrella (vocals, keys and guitars) got together to perform a series of bizarre shows as a funny and singular duet. Not really good stuff but great fun! A year later they decided to increase the family, bringing in Dídac Garcia on bass and vocals.
That was it, a real band! But… would they be able to face the progrock challenge? It took a year to prepare an hour of a proggy repertoire, and in 2007, it finally saw the light of day. The show was fresh and surprising, and the childish manners and image of the band, especially through their front man, Esteban Navarro, quickly took a place on the audience hearts. In 2012 they got involved on their big project, the recording of a full length album, Boiling Fowls! The album is an intense album, fresh, innovative and full of love for prog. Boiling Fowls was ready to eat the world!
