The fifteenth solo album from Jordan Rudess is Wired For Madness and will be released Friday, April 19. Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater) plays keyboards and sings on the new album. In addition he has many guest musicians, and in fact this is a real dream team of extreme talented musicians. Rudess says about the new album, «It is not a concept album. However, the title track does have a story that I was envisioning while writing it. The idea was about a guy who wanted to go about a transformational process involving becoming partially computerized and robotic. His functionality as a human was noticeably diminishing and he takes advantage of a modern medical procedure to upgrade and extend his physical and mental capabilities. Through the course (or curse) of this process he becomes more and more separated from the outside ‘normal’ world, allowing the computer front end to take over much of his day to day tasks and decisions. This leaves his mind free to travel between madness and spiritual enlightenment. After an angel visited him, the listener is left wondering whether he is experiencing true enlightenment or if he is moving out of the physical world to the next dimension». Jordan Rudess is a classically trained keyboardist who entered the world of prog with the release of the album Listen in 1993. It is a bombastic album full of various keyboard sounds, with many odd-time signatures and Rudess provides also his vocals to a couple of songs, being backed by a female vocalist. This album helped him being recognized as Best New Talent by the readers of the Keyboard magazine. At the same time, Rudess used to play with Annie Haslam from Renaissance and The Dixie Dregs, who reRudess and Dregs`s drummer Rod Morgenstein formed a power duo The Rudess/Morgenstein Project who released a very good record on the Domo records label. Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater called him to join an instrumental project involving the legendary bassist Tony Levin and his bandmate John Petrucci on the guitar. Voted Best Keyboardist of All Time by Music Radar Magazine, Jordan Rudess is best known as the keyboardist/multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire for platinum-selling Grammy- nominated prog rock band, Dream Theater. At nine, he entered the Juilliard School of Music Pre-College Division for classical piano training, but by his late teens he had grown increasingly interested in synthesizers and progressive rock music. Before joining Dream Theater in January 1999, Jordan connected with John Petrucci and Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater, bassist Tony Levin of King Crimson and Peter Gabriel notoriety, and recorded two albums with Liquid Tension Experiment.
Rudess’s interest in state of the art keyboard controllers is another area of his career in which he has achieved success. Jordan owns the successful App development company Wizdom Music, which has developed award-winning apps including: MorphWiz, SampleWiz, Geo Synthesizer, SpaceWiz, SketchWiz, Tachyon, Explores, EarWiz, JordanTron, HarmonyWiz, and GeoShred. MorphWiz won the first ever Billboard award for Best Music Creation App. Wizdom Music has also built apps for Intel, Microsoft and RIM.
