The Mariapark is a place of pilgrimage in Lommel-Werkplaatsen due to religious cases, but maybe the Mariapark also become famous due to the band High Inquisitor Woe from that place? The Belgian band High Inquisitor Woe have recently released their first full-length CD, The Taint. Everything regarding this release is done through the band themselves so it’s again a fully independent release. That is fascinating to hear, and the band really deliverer a very good and solid doom metal. The track Stallion Of Doom Recorded live at The Other Side,
Five years ago High Inquisitor Woe was conceived as a two piece band and lyrically from their personal experiences, each of them hidden behind a cool story. The musician’s primary musical goal was creating a blend of traditional doom metal and other heavy genres in the vein of Black Sabbath and Reverend Bizarre, etc. With lyrical singing, but spiced with other vocal styles as well. Four years ago they released an EP, Liquid Times. The track Beyond Visible Light is from the album The Taint. It is a story about a man who feels trapped in his own body and lives as a hermit. He wants his spirit to escape from this situation, which unfortunately means leaving his body behind!
Sometimes the lyric is funny but often incredibly serious. Sources of inspiration are movies, comics and literature they enjoyed in their youth when they wanted to escape reality. This includes wizards, great conquerors, crazy journalists, ancient history, kushadelic nights, mythical beasts, spiritual experiences and a certain mistrust of seductive, unclad women. In short, Conan The Barbarian and Hunter S. Thompson.
The Taint shows a band that have developed from their EP nice pounding drums, crushing guitars and witchy vocals! The sound is better than before and also song structures and atmospheres are richer and more exciting. The album will be backed by epic live shows.
