In the seventeenth century, the Caribbean seas were infested with the worst scum humanity had ever produced, an absolute threat to be foiled and eradicated. But some might say that the pirates were nothing but free men, who had managed to escape from the shackles of authority and just exercised their right to sail free all over the world, in search of legendary treasures and unknown islands. Calico Jack band was founded in 2011 by the brothers Toto (rhythm guitar) and Caps(drums) with the aim of merging legendary 80s heavy metal with modern Scandinavian folk metal, wrapping everything in a maritime atmosphere, inspired by folk songs and sea shanties of the Anglo-Saxon tradition.The crew was joined immediately by Dave (Fiddler), Giò (singer) and Ricky (bass). After some adjustments Melo (solo guitar) also joined the band.
In 2012, the band performed in various clubs and pubs around Milan. In November 2012 the First self-produced demo was released, with the help of the band’s friend Marco Burla. In June 2013 Calico Jack entered the Frequencies Studio of Monza to record an EP entitled. Panic In The Harbour containing 4 brand new songs that combine the power of classic heavy with a massive amount of alcoholic folk. The EP was released on October 5th. In a short time the EP received numerous positive reviews both Italian and foreign and in
November the band is offered a contract by Nemeton Records, for management and booking activity, whose signature was officially announced in January 2014. The band has the opportunity to promote their new release, performing around Italy and in festivals such as Sinistro Fest and Mediolanum Folk Fest. In 2015 Giggi replaces Ricky on bass and Calico Jack joined the roster of Ronin Agency having the opportunity to perform in many other dates in northern Italy, opening among others for Negura Bunget, Diabula Rasa, Storm Seeker, while at the same time starting to work on new songs.
Between 2016 and 2017 the band decided it was time to record their first full-length at the Elnor Studio of Davide Tavecchia, with the collaboration of Laura Brancorsini (Furor Gallico) for the violin parts, and then at the Twilight Studio of Mattia Stancioiu(Labyrinth, Crown Of Autumn) for mixing and mastering.
