Uppsala is the seat of Uppsala University, which is Scandinavia’s oldest university, founded in 1477. Uppsala is also the seat of the very good band Hasse Fröberg & Musical Companion. The band consists of Hasse Fröberg-vocals & guitar, Anton Lindsjö-leadguitar, Ola Strandberg-drums, Kjell Haraldsson-keyboards, Thomas Thomsson-bass. Hasse Fröberg is wellknown vocalist/guitar player from The Flower Kings. Before he joined The Flower Kings Frøberg was in bands like Rampljud, Spellbound and Solid Blue. While he had a year hiatus from The Flower King he got back with old and new friends to make an album with Hasse Fröberg & Musical Companion in 2010 and a second one in 2012 and the third HFMC four years ago. Now the band is back with their fourth effort Parallel Life at the end of august. The track Sleeping With The Ghost,
In October 2008 the band played their first chords, after Hasse Frøberg had handpicked musicians he thought would suit his idea of a group, namely Thomsson on bass and Ola Strandberg on drums. These two gentlemen had played with Hasse Frøberg during the eighties in the Swedish hardrock band Spellbound. To complete the band, he also hired new faces Kjell Haraldsson on keyboards and lead guitarist Anton Lindsjö. Frøberg already had a handful of songs he wanted to record, among them Only My Blood, Fallen Empire and Song For July.
The music on the new album features certain elements that are similar to Flower Kings symphonic style, but often with a distinct hard-rock/classic-rock twist. Frøberg`s warm vocals are the main focus of the album, along with classic keyboard-laden prog-rock instrumentation. Hasse Fröberg & Musical Companion is a part of the line up at Prog At Sea on the 31th of August this year. On the cruise they will take the opportunity to have a release party for their upcoming album Parallel Life.
