In the Danish era, the noisy battle at Örkelljung (Danish Ørkellyng) took place on August 27, 1510. In the present, the band Skånska Mord from Örkelljung is making the noise!
Skånska Mord was founded in 2006 in Örkelljunga, Sweden by members from the then-defunct bands Half Man and Mothercake, who share their love for old 70’s hard and heavy rock. A lot of inspiration has been gathered through the years from Jan Bengtsson’s and Patric Carlsson’s sizeable collections of vintage vinyl, amongst the rich amounts of hard rock, progressive, blues and psychedelia. In some way this shared musical background have given birth to a special sound which is distinctive as coming from Örkelljunga. While Half Man played a blues based heavy rock and Mothercake had more metal inclinations, it still had that same sound. A sound with one foot firmly planted in the seventies, yet going somewhere fresh and new. Five years after their self-titled release Skånska Mord return with yet another hard-hitting release, promptly named Blues From The Tombs. The track Blinded By The Light,
The special sound that makes Skånska Mord stand out in today’s scene is present on every track on the new album. While other acts may focus entirely on creating either heavy blues soundscapes, or paying their tribute to the progressive rock bands of the 70’s, Skånska Mord is not afraid of mixing the two in their own manner. The track Snow,
Blues From The Tombs is delivering heavy grooves as per the band’s high standard, while enthusing the listener with tempo changes, nice solos, tight rhythm sections together with the strong voice of Janne Bengtsson. From the doomy elements of The Coming Of The Second Wave to the dynamic psychedelia of Sun, there is only one thing to conclude, if you enjoy listening to music with the same passion as these guys are playing it, then this album is for you.
