Mothflesh is s cathartic driven groove metal band from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and they have released their debut full-length Nocturnal Armour. The band was formed in early 2017 and is comprised of Imran Muhammad on vocals, Tunku Shafiq on drums, Ezekiel Mavani on bass while having both guitar duties carried by Kelvin Singh and Giridhar Ganesan respectively.
The common musical denominators found within Mothflesh’s sound would be the band’s love for complex rhythms, hanging melodies, emotive modes and pavement-grinding vocals. All of which when accumulated, brings a forward-thinking approach on extreme music. The track Skinless,
Each member shares a unique musical background, influenced by the likes of the early Gothenburg-styled Melodeth progenies of At The Gates and Nevermore, the groove-grind rhythm of Carcass and The Black Dahlia Murder to the forward thinking prowess of Gojira, Tool, Cynic, Opeth and everything else in between. Lyrically speaking the band draws its inspiration from the members own struggle with disassociation, religion, prejudice, sexuality and conformity of which are topical conversations that do not have an active platform or voice in the current heavy-metal scene.
