Åmål is probably best known for the famous movie Fucking Åmål? In addition the town also have a pretty famous and nice band named Magnolia. Magnolia started in the little town of Åmål in Sweden 1994 when Ronny Eriksson started to write his own music. Inspired by the music from the late sixties and the early seventies he recorded his first songs on a Fostex 4-track portable studio. The project was called Magnolia after a Blue Cheer song. Now 25 years later and three years since their critical acclaimed album På Djupt Vatten Magnolia are back with new album. They return stronger than ever with the brand-new effort Ta Tjuren Vid Hornen. Translated to English it is Take The Bull At The Horns. The title track Ta Tjuren Vid Hornen,
One of Magnolia’s strongest traits as part of the Swedish hard rock scene is their nice ability to tailor the sound, vibe and heaviness for each album. With Ta Tjuren Vid Hornen, their 7th album, Magnolia has taken one step closer to the heavier part of the 70’s, while clear influences of the early 70’s progressive scene are clearly present. Music of Magnolia is probably for fans of early Mountain, Cream and Abramis Brama.
