Circus Maximus: Forward from oblivion

Circus Maximus – Isolated Chapters

It is time for some new music from Circus Maximus! Isolated Chapter’ EP is out now!! 2 unreleased songs they never got to finish during The 1st Chapter & Isolate era is finally seeing the light of day. 1st Chapter & Isolate was the two first album from Circus Maximus and they was released in 2005 and 2007. The band states, «The first ideas for Phasing Mirrors was written after the release of Isolat’ in 2007. The sound and some of the parts are based on the song Mouth Of Madness. It is not a direct follow up, but it could fit the darkness that is the Isolate album. It was later supposed to be a bonus track on the Nine album, but the sound and style did not fit and the song was put on hold. Then after many years we listened to the pre-production and decided that we had to finish it».

Phasing Mirrors are recorded at Lionheart Studios and Remember Studios, mixed & mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios and artwork by the very, very skilled Mattias Noren and produced by Mats Haugen from Circus Maximus.

The track Endgame,

The band states about the song Endgame, «it started with the idea of doing a follow up to one of our most beloved songs from The 1st Chapter, The one and only Glory Of The Empire. Several parts are re-used in a somewhat different approach. The lyrics are again based on a specific movie/television series. The drums were recorded during the Nine’sessions but the rest of the band was recorded many years later».

Endgame is recorded at Ocean Sound Recordings and Remember Studios, mixed by Øyvind Larsen at Lionheart Studios, mastered by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios and artwork by Mattias Noren and produced by Mats Haugen.

Norwegian Circus Maximus became a full line up in 2000, consisting of long time band-mates Michael Eriksen on vocals and brothers Mats & Truls Haugen on guitar and drums respectively. In addition the band then consists of keyboard mastermind Espen Storø and Mats Haugen`s old high school buddy Glen Cato Møllen on bass.

The band has a wide variety of musical influences, from pop/rock to 70’s prog  to heavy metal and death metal, all of which is melted together and gives the guys their special sound. The melting pot creates a mixture of great melodies, groove, heavy riffs and weird odd time signatures.

Slikt krydderet finner man blant annet i musikk.
