Melting Clock’s plays a reasonably atmospheric and complex music that still is very audible. The lyrics are about social issues and are in Italian, and that did many of the famous and well-known Italian 70s prog bands also! On their new release Destinazioni the Italians plays rather variated and contrast filled music. Often the music is original and creative, and there are elements of psychedelic rock and fair amount of symphonic prog and hints at acoustic or aggressive passages. The track Caleidoscopio,
Melting Clock was born eighteen years ago in the Faculty Of Physics, University of Genoa. At the time the group’s aim, which brought together experienced musicians and beginners, was sheer amusement and musical growth, pursued through the covering of songs by more and less known bands of the progressive rock scene.
Over the years Melting Clock’s sound have change due to much attention has been paid to some of the most interesting contemporary bands such as Porcupine Tree, Riverside, Opeth, Ayreon, without however neglecting milestones that have made the history of the progressive genre like Pink Floyd, Genesis and PFM.
