Intoxicate: With a lot of 240 bpm parts

Intoxicate - Cross Contamination

The album Cross Contamination features 8 tracks of old school thrash metal with a lot of 240 bpm parts. The band behind the album Cross Contamination is Intoxicate who hails from Gothenburg, Sweden.  The band was formed in 1988 as one of the first thrash bands in that area. Three demo tapes were released and got some recognition in the worldwide underground-scene until they split in 1991.

Intoxicate were asked to reunite for a gig at Gothenburg Sound Festival in 2015, a tribute-festival for the bands that created The Gothenburg Sound. Although they weren’t a part of that creation, Intoxicate played live with those bands in the old days when they first started, and therefore were asked to play with them again. The track Retention Rumba,

With four out of five original members, they hit the stage again and haven´t stopped playing since then. The band had a mini-tour in the Netherlands, played some gigs in Gothenburg with Hatesphere, Pagandom, Nightrage and more. In the meantime they started to write, rehearse and record Cross Contaminatio” which was mixed by Anders Backelin (ex-Lord Belial) and mastered the great guitar player Andy LaRoque.

No, we’re not bitter. Rather impressed by the fact that our Gothenburg colleagues like In Flames, Dark Tranquility, At the Gates and others who roamed around the leisure farms like us, managed to get to it. In any case, 1988-1991, as teenagers, we tried on a career as hard rock stars.

It didn’t go so well. Half Homo Habilis from Västra Frölunda was merged with half Demoniac from Kortedala to form Intoxicate, after seeing each other’s ads at MUG, Music Without Borders, Gothenburg’s best music store and hangout for anyone with longer hair than the cut. This is history now, but the album Cross Contamination is the present, and proof of what Intoxicate can offer now!

Slikt krydderet finner man blant annet i musikk.
