Construction of the city of Brasilia was started as late as 1956, and it is therefore a fairly young city. The city’s heavy metal band Human Act is even younger and has been active since 2013. Human Act have just released their brand new video for the single The Devil You Can See. The song is inspired by the famous novel The Devil To Pay In The Backlands, by Brazilian author Guimarães Rosa.
The novel tells the story about a backlands outlaw who makes a pact with the devil to get revenge, but through that he loses the love of his life. The band tried to put all the themes of the novel through metaphors in the actor’s scenes in the video.
The vocalist in Human Act Richardo Moura states and laughs, «To make the video in the way we really wanted, with war, blood, and death, would require way more money which we didn’t have, That’s why we tried to keep everything as simple as possible, but also having a meaning that related to the story of the book. Our original idea was to do an animated video, but that didn’t work out the way we wanted. Then, we got lucky to find someone who could write a very good script that could transmit in metaphorical ways what the story is all about, he adds».
