Asarhaddon was a king of Assyria who ruled from 681 to 669 BC He was the youngest son of Sankerib and his Aramaic queen Naqi’a, Sankerib’s second wife. The German black metal band Asarhaddon have probably taken their name from this king?!

In the Autumn of 2018, Asarhaddon began recording their new album Reysa in Franconia, the origin of countless creations of the collective. In the following spring, they completed the 52-minute-long effort with Markus Stock at Klangschmiede Studio E. The old-German word Reysa originates in the late 13th century and translates to journey, but also passing and death. In this context, the listener embarks on crooked paths through time and space until the inevitable end of all things.
