The extreme avant-garde metal project The Outsider has recently released a new single which features 8 dimensional audio, making it the first ever metal release to use this effect in this particular way in order to offer a new experience for the listener (headphones needed). The single named The Headless Horror also features guest vocals by Kelly Shaefer from the legendary band Atheist and a lyric video was made for it.
This new single keeps the experimental new line of The Outsider but is more influenced by Black Metal, it is a fast and vertiginous song that ends in a section highly influenced by Latin drums, and it also features a jazzy and twelve-tone music section.
Another notable feature of this song is that some tracks are openly processed by the so called 8 Dimensional Audio in order to offer a different and terrifying experience true to The Outsider’s concept, making it the first song of its kind in Mexican metal and probably one of the few in the world, to be listened with headphones for the best experience.
The Forbidden Lyric,
The Headless Horror is about an ancient deity, its name, even if it can be pronounced, it shall NEVER be written on paper or any other mean, and if it is written, it must be in a way that no ordinary human can read it because it can unleash fatal consequences, that is the reason why in the officially published lyrics a [FORBIDDEN TO BE WRITTEN] caption appears instead of the actual lyrics, on the Lyric Video a kind of cryptic hieroglyphic is shown, such hieroglyphic is known to be a related to that deity but cannot be read by an ordinary human being, it is some kind of warning symbol used by a primal tribe as ancient as humanity itself, used as a reference to this archaic malignant GOD whose name was forbidden to be said, because if said repeatedly, it is invoked…
The 8 Dimensional Audio effect (or Ambisonics Audio) is a full-sphere surround format that, in addition to the horizontal plane, covers sound sources from above and below the listener. This makes it perfectly suitable for the music by The Outsider, which is dark and experimental and is highly influenced by Lovecraftian horror and themes. The Outsider is a one-man metal project that started with a symphonic death metal sound with middle-east musical influences, but later evolved into something more experimental and avant-gardish, but still keeping its roots into symphonic and middle-east music in some songs.
The Outsider is also known for having special guests from well-known bands on its songs, like musicians from Therion, Armageddon and Snowy Shaw. They recently released a highly experimental song which features Jørgen Munkeby from Shining and a single featuring Kristian Niemann (Sorcerer, ex-Therion) will be released in March. A new album is set to be released in April.
