Hell Obelisco is a so-called heavy metal supergroup consisting of various established musicians of Italian area, particularly of the Doom/Death/Sludge subgenre. All the band members were very prolific in the underground scene of the 1990/2000’s, producing many demos and albums with formerly acts as: Addiction, Monumentum, Schizo, Tying Tiffany, Evilgroove.
Now the band are back with new EP Cyclopian and the opus features 5 brand new songs, including ZZ TOP’s cover Sharp Dressed Man.
«Usually you can say We are back, but actually we never left! After 4 years we wanted to break our silence. In the last 4 years we released our debut album Swamp Wizard Rises, we embarked on our first European tour with US band Destroyer Of Light and we shared the stage with Crowbar and Church Of Misery, among others. We were surprised by the feedback we got, so we decided to release new music. Well, there are just 5 songs, but we think it’s a heavy like hell work of art. We hope you like it. Brothers and sisters of sludge, luckily even if it didn’t rain a lot lately, once again the mud covered both our music and words. Horns up! Mammoth has returned», comments the band.
Cyclopian has been recorded and mixed at Boat Studio by Marco Paradisi. Giovanni Versari mastered it at La Maestà Studio. The stunning cover artwork has been created once again by Roberto Toderico. The track Sharped Dressed Man,
Hell Obelisco was born in the second half of 2015, with the intention of forming a well-defined musical entity, characterized by a heavy/sludge sound but, at the same time, by definite rhythmic dynamics. The engagement of Doc and Fraz (guitars) was the decisive step to start a shared path also in terms of attitude. The band’s style is the result of twenty-five years of activity in very different musical experiences, but it is mainly influenced by a cinematographic inspiration and by directors like John Carpenter and David Cronenberg, as well as the very first Steven Spielberg (Jaws) and Ridley Scott (Alien).
