In 1972 there were three major earthquakes. One in Turkey, another in Iraq and a third in Nicaragua. An airplane crashed in Andes Mountains and the survivors….In addition a much more enjoyable event happened. The band Kayak was founded! One of the most famous names in the Dutch rock history.
The band returned in full force with their last studio album Seventeen in 2018 and returned to the stage to present not only their new music but also a fine selection of their greatest hits! It brought them their biggest success since the early 80’s! Seventeen actually enters the Dutch album charts at number 6, the highest position of a Kayak record since 1980! The vinyl version of Seventeen even lands at the number one spot of the Vinyl-top-33. Kayak was back- with a vengeance!
Some of the shows were recorded for a live release to coincide with the winter 2019 tour of the band together with the Flower Kings. That tour sadly was cancelled and the release of the album delayed.
Although the band is taking a well-deserved break it was decided not to shelve the album but release it as a limited edition fan only-release. The album – dubbed Live 2019. The track Le Peregrina Live,

Kayak has as mentioned above been on the forefront of the Dutch music scene since they formed back 1972. With 16 studio-album, 3 live albums and many hit singles the band has never been far from the spotlights. Over the years the band suffered many line-up changes, but it always survived these hard times and remained working hard in different line-ups. The track Mammoth,
In September 2016 Ton Scherpenzeel announces that he is working on the — yet untitled — seventeenth Kayak album. At the same time he is auditioning a new line-up for the band. With Ton Scherpenzeel as the only remaining member the new line-up this is a radical change: vocalist Bart Schwertmann and guitarist Marcel Singor are the first new names to be announced in 2017. Later that year the band signs to GlassVilIe Music as management and later to InsideOut for the release of the record. The line-up is completed with Kristoffer Gildenlöw (bass) and Collin Leyenaar (drums).
