Notion Blue - The Son, The Liar, And The Victor

Yale University, one of the world’s most famous universities, is located in New Haven. For us more than average geography and music enthusiasts, New Haven is also home to the fine band Notion Blue. The band has some similarity with Glass Hammer and are a 3-piece prog band with a new album The Son, The Liar, And The Victor.
Notion Blue was once four longtime friends have fun playing together and do some gigs since high school days but with no intention of actually enter the scene as a band. Then the bassist Johny Barbi suddenly dies two years ago. To deal with this tragic, the three survivors find their own way of doing it.
The three remaining friends decided to form an official band. They also make a decision to produce a concept album about the life and times of Johny Barbi. Over the following 12 months, they worked hard, writing and recording and this is a pretty intense but creative and fascinating process.
The result of this effort is the above mentioned concept album The Son, The Liar And The Victor. An album inspired by great bands as Procupine Tree, Steven Wilson and Spock`s Beard conceptual music. The track Always Tomorrow begin with great guitars and keyboards before the vocal enter the scene before returning to the opening passage.
The track The Liar, Then the guitar and keyboards play each other even better and the interaction is well worth listening to.
The lyrics of the album are of course very central and it is suitably sensitive. The instrumental is very good and the songs will probably delight those who profess to prog. The track Keeping Apart,
