Elillan is an EP released by the band Closingtown Orchestra. The band featuring travellers from Romania, Italy, The Netherlands and Hungary, Closingtown Orchestra is a boiling witch-cauldron of Balkan Gypsy music, Transylvanian folk, progressive rock and tongue-in-cheek tall-tales. The track Bazsarózsa (Peony)
The band stated some days ago on Facebook accompanied by a cool video, «Clarinet fortress /ˌklær.ɪˈnet ˈfɔː.trəs/ noun – A strong building that can be defended from the noise attacks of the percussions. Guarded by the mighty clarinet wizard. It is not easy to record drums and clarinet at the same time, so we had to be creative when we recorded our upcoming EP Elillan, which is out tomorrow!». The track Wikileaks,
Adventures from fire along the coordinates of Istanbul – fairy tales – rattlesnake, interpreted by an international tune smuggler company. Supposedly dancing, storytelling, and clarinet solos are certainly to be expected, but more recently, the appearance of golden gleaming mirrors has also been suspected in the alleys.
Closedtown from dubious adventurers, ClosingtownOrchestra weaves across Europe: they feel at home in alpine laboratories and gourmet festivals in the Netherlands, as well as in the streets of Granada or in the shadow of abandoned Bulgarian petrol stations. The backbone of their current repertoire is fiery Balkan melodies inoculated into progressive rock, phishing circles leaning towards psychedelia and Transylvanian pirate anthems.
The band states when visiting Peru, «During his travels, one time Donát was turned into a monkey by a Peruvian jungle bruja.
According to him it was a funny experience at first, hanging from the benches with his tail, jumping from tree to tree, and the locals also treat monkeys pretty well.
His worries started when he realized he’s getting overfed by tourists, and being a fat monkey in the jungle can be dangerous.
At nights he started to hear soft growls from the bushes, and he could swear uncanny yellow eyes were watching him».
«One day the local people stopped seeing him around, first they thought Donát just moved on to discover other territories.
Luckily an indigenous tribe’s hunters captured an unusually fat jaguar, and as they opened up its belly, a monkey jumped out!
As he was wearing Donát’s necklace, the shamans of the tribe realized the monkey must be bewitched, so they lifted off the spell with a special incantation».
