Slomosa: Brought home the American desert rock to Bergen…..
Slomosa - Slomosa

Slomosa has brought home the American desert rock to Bergen, woven into grunge, punk and big chorus, and describes the result as tundra rock. A Desert Rock band from a cold country!
Bringing desert rock from what is probably the least desert country in the world, Norwegian rockers Slomosa are due to release their self-titled debut album on August 28th, which has been highly anticipated ever since debut single Horses premiered on the national radio station P13 in October 2019.
Acclaimed Norwegian music journalist Totto Mjelde NRK P13) claimed it to be “some of the best new music to surface in the last couple of years”, saying the song “took his breath away”. At the end of the year the same radio station picked “Horses” as one of their five best songs of 2019. Regional newspaper Bergens Tidende proclaimed the band had released one of the year’s best rock songs with Horses, raising the expectations for their next release. The following single, There Is Nothing New Under The Sun, also debuted on P13, and Spotify quickly added the song to their official Stoner Rock and Norwegian Rock playlists.
The songs have amassed 170 000 streams and counting – and with their music’s international reach the band has managed to gain a following in countries such as Sweden, Germany and USA, making the band Norway’s new shooting stars of huge rock, music blog theobelisk.net aptly put it. June 19th they released their last single from the upcoming album, the sun-dazed In My Mind’s Desert, showcasing the band’s ability to make rock songs that appeal not only to the traditional rock crowd.
Ever since their label Apollon Records picked them up immediately following their debut concert in 2017, the band has been working on their debut album. Employing downtuned guitars, heavy grooves and clear vocals, the band relies on thoughtful songwriting not shy of being pop either. After growing up around fjords and mountains in parts of Western Norway, the band members eventually came together in Bergen. Joined by a love for the rock scenes of the past, the band has made a name for themselves with their heavy and catchy sound, dubbed «tundra rock» by the band itself. The track In My Mind`s Desert,
With the band seeking to capture their renowned live energy the whole album was recorded live by the band in Polyfon Studio the fall of 2018, with co-producer Eirik Sandvik (Línt, John Olav Nilsen, Romskip). Overdubs and vocals were recorded in Sandvik’s own Marinius Studio at Bergen Kjøtt. Mixed by Sandvik, the album was later mastered by Iver Sandøy (Enslaved, Emmerhoff, Audrey Horne) at Solslottet Studio.
In the fall of 2019 the band recruited bass player Marie Moe of Razika-fame and guitarist Tor Erik Bye, and a couple of months later they signed with booking agent Ragnar Vikse, who had previously worked with Norwegian rock giants Kvelertak for the last ten years, Turbonegro, Enslaved and Graveyard, among many other rock acts. All set for their break, with their eyes set for the future, the band eagerly awaits the future and all it will bring. Hitting home for fans of Queens Of The Stone Age, Red Fang and Elder, the self-titled debut album Slomosa is out the 28th of August, 2020.
