Kings Head: Grunge with a heavy edge….

Kings Head - The White Horse

Dutch alternative rock band The King’s Head have released their second single and video The White Horse on all available streaming services. Just like their debut single The Far Beyond, this video is a forerunner of their self-titled album which will come out later this year.

«This intense slab of alternative rock can be found on our upcoming, self-titled, debut album. About that album, we’ll have a very tasty update in store, very soon. But today it’s time for our second outing. Musically we’ve explored our love for nineties alternative rock to the max. It’s as straightforward as it gets. Right down to the flannel, checkered shirt».

«We recorded this video in the nice, yet strange remains of a local warehouse Just us, a couple of guitars and some friends who know their way around a camera. And to keep it as nineties to the bone, the lyrics lay bare the warm, comfortable, yet suffocating and often lethal relationship people maintain with narcotics. Sit back, hold on, and enjoy the ride on The White Horse».

The music of The King’s Head is as diverse as rock history itself. They take the listener on a journey that goes from classic hard rock to grunge and from sludge to the melodic side of metal, topped off with a progressive edge. Dark vocal harmonies that take the listener back to days when the great alternative rock movement ruled the world at the end of the last millennium. Combined with a heavy edge, that makes no mistake that some of the members had a good and healthy metal collection under their fingertips.

The King`s Head is an alternative rock band from The Netherlands. The year is 2018, when The King’s Head is formed in Breda, a city in the deep south of the country.  Five guys, who have all been playing the local scene since the late nineties, join forces. Their mission is clear from the first time: a dark, melodic, progressive and fresh hybrid of everything they loved to listen to in their formative years. Most notably in that department is the deep and haunting growl that Pim Van Zuilen unleashes in the music.

Not only is he the bringer of the storm, but while doing that he pulls a double musical duty as a guitar and keyboard player. Singer / guitar player Tim Van Bokhoven is confidently in charge of the mic and strings, delivering his raw and emotional vocals with sheer ferocity. Lead guitar player Koen Koniuszek brings thunder and flavor with his dark and haunting lead work and his heavy, punishing riff work. Behind the first line of fire resides the engine that drives it all forward. Jasper Van Der Hoeven on bass and vocals and Chris Stadhouders on drums provide the deep and driving foundation on which the wall of sound is built. After two years of working on their craft, the band is ready to start their first campaign.

The band states, «Far Beyond  is our first track from our soon to be released self-titled album which we’re going to throw at you from an appropriate distance. Why this one?»

.«Well, we made this video for it. That’s one thing, and we believe that this song sums it all up very nicely. It has harmonies, it rocks in a slightly metallic way, it’s short and sweet and Tim sings his bloody heart out. Exactly the way we like doing things. What’s this song about? Does it really matter? Listen to the man. He means it. We all do. We’ll see you all on the battle field one day, that’s a promise. For now, this will have to do».

Slikt krydderet finner man blant annet i musikk.
