Journey Into Darkness: Dark and sinister but on a whole new level…..
Journey Into Darkness – Multitudes Of Emptiness

Brett Clarin states, «Back in the 90s I played in a death metal band, Sorrow. After we broke up I started writing dark synth music that was reminiscent of the intros and interludes on death metal albums. I combined the sounds of death, doom and black metal, classical symphonies and synths. The music has since morphed into symphonic Black Death metal with guitars and vocals. Dark and sinister but on a whole new level».
«The music on my album Multitudes Of Emptiness This has been many years in the making and an emotional journey. I set out to create music that was melodic and dare I say beautiful but at the same time heavy, intense and sinister». The track To Be Human Is To Be Inhuman,
History is littered with mankind’s atrocities
Learning to kill each other with greater velocity
The endless struggle to fulfill needs and desires
Everyone is capable of intolerance and violence
In ancient fields and country plains
Crowded cities filled with remains
Fighting throughout history
Ancient battles for supremacy
From tribal warriors fighting with hands and spears
To nations torturing and starving millions of their peers
Humanity has been an example of hatred
This is how our species has been bred
Slaughter on a massive scale
It’s the strong who prevail
Bodies of captives and slaves
Lie in legions of graves
In the ground and deep in caves
Death comes in waves
Conquer, control and exert dominance
To help keep society homogenous
Stand in solidarity to destroy all the others
Help kill their sons and rape their mothers
Way before Rome in ancient lands
Lay slaughtered bodies rotting in sand
Now living in the modern era
The number dead is no better
A single person may be horrible or pleasant
But grouped together hatred becomes present
People banded together in a tribe or nation
Ultimately causes others to suffer deprivation
Slaughter on a massive scale
It’s the strong who prevail
Bodies of captives and slaves
Lie in legions of graves
In the ground and deep in caves
Death comes in waves
Countless examples of the atrocities of man
From the largest nations to the smallest clan
Committing torture rape murder and slavery
Heinous acts mistaken as bravery
Encoded in our offspring
Time will not change a thing
Inhumanity in our past
Forever it will last
Where there are humans there is suffering
Gorging upon corpses recurring
Growing off of pain and misery
It was and always shall be
Multitudes Of Emptiness has eight tracks. Four of which are a unique style of symphonic black death metal and three tracks are dark interludes, but just as the original Journey Into Darkness, the interlude songs are not minimal or drawn out. The final song is a hybrid of the old synth style and the new heavy guitar style, an emotional instrumental that blends heavy doomy guitars with synths and orchestral parts.
The lyrics are well thought out and will help draw the listener into the intensity and emotion of the music. In keeping with the motivation that gave birth to Journey Into Darkness, all instruments on Multitudes Of Emptiness are virtual. This allows for extreme flexibility in the sound and the music.
