Colombian post-Black metal act Fúnebre have published a lyric video for the track Old Dimensions, which is taken off from The Void EP, released earlier this year by HateWorks. This is an introspective and reflective song, driven by eclectic guitars and melancholic melodies. Nothing’s real, just a dream, I’m living with insanity.
The video was produced by HateWorks’ in-house creative department, HateWorks OPS, with original footage shot by the band and the label team. It is a reflection on loneliness through nihilistic and misanthropic landscapes, closely following the concept of the EP.
Fúnebre was founded in Manizales – Colombia in 1992 by Rubén (Drums / Guitar), Andrés Loaiza (Guitar), Néstor (Bass) and Alonso (Voice). The band had some changes in 1993 with the departure of Alonso and Andrés Loaiza and the arrival of Andrés Moreno (Bass) and Select (Drums). The debut of the band was linked to some presentations in the city of Manizales alongside local bands such as Altar, Carcava, Traición among others.
The band initially framed their style in raw Death Metal, with strong influences from Black Metal. For 3 years the band recorded some rehearsals and continued to perform in the region. In 1996, after having consolidated its style and obtained national recognition for the seriousness of its work, the band separated for various reasons, including the death of Andrés Moreno in 1997.
After this, Rubén joined Enthralled Haze and other projects locally. Select founded Suthurian. For the year 2011, after 15 years, Rubén (Guitar – Bass) and Select (Voice – Drums) decide to take up the threads of Funeral and are currently recording new material (12 songs) and additional songs from the first rehearsals (2 songs).
The style with which Fúnebre arrived for 2011 is a dark and atmospheric metal with elements of Thrash, Death and Black metal respecting the roots that cemented his style since 1992. The idea of returning to the scene responds to the constant need to create music and continue exploring possibilities within metal, likewise it seeks to give continuity to an unfinished project that was suspended in 1996 for reasons that have now been overcome.
At present, it is planned to make some live presentations, for which Carlos Andrés Alvarán G. has been invited on bass and Cristian David Hincapié C. (Kris Fetisher – Psyproject) on voice. Likewise, the recording of the new material continues. Alignment under study: • Voice – Drums (Select) • Guitar – Bass (Rubén) Live lineup: • Voice – Kris Feetisher • Guitar – Rubén • Bass – Carlos • Battery – Select.
