Malton is a neighbourhood in the northeastern part of the city of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. On Saturday, October 25, 1969 at 2:55 PM a natural gas line leak caused an explosion and fire at the Four Corners. 45 years later a much more pleasant episode happen when the band Olde was formed in Malton. Back then the band name was Corvuss but soon they changed to Olde.
Olde is a Canadian sludge / doom outfit, and their brand new album is entitled Pilgrimage! While their last full length on STB Records, Temple, turned some heads, this release is a complete tour de force!! Pilgrimage ups the ante on every level and is 2x heavier, sludgier, and uglier than its predecessor. The track A New King,
Over 2019 and early 2020, Olde wrapped the writing and recording of their third full-length, Pilgrimage. The album is another step up in all aspects maintaining Olde’s penchant for punishing heaviness while still focusing on melodies and rock n’ roll sensibilities. Fans of the band will no doubt be pleased by their never-wavering commitment to earth heaving riffs, and while the songs might be more nuanced, they are the bands best. Pilgrimage also features guest solos from Chewy Daniel Mongrain of Voivod and Nichol S. Robertson. Olde is for fans of : High On Fire, Entombed (non-Death Metal days), Trouble, and the Melvins.
