Cathartic Demise: More mature approach…..

Cathartic Demise - In Absence

On June 10, 2012, Kitchener as a city celebrated its centenary, and October 8, 2017 the town celebrated again. This time the celebration was for the foundation of the band Cathartic Demise! Progressive death/thrash quartet Cathartic Demise are satisfied to announce the upcoming release of full-length album In Absence. An album with many epic melodic section and this time the songs is more complex and with an appealing experimentations.

In comparison to the band’s self-titled EP, In Absence still consists of the melo/prog/death thrash metal elements, but with a more mature approach. The overall musicianship within the band improved, as well as the overall songwriting capabilities.

In Absence features the same aggression as the self-titled EP, but brings an intense atmosphere with extreme tempos, and brisk riffs. This release heavily carries on the epic melodic sections heard previously, and even going further with more complex song structuring and longer tracks. Aside from the aggressive side of things, hints of experimentation can be heard, showing slower sections, and clean parts as well. The track For Power,

Lyrics:

The fog, it shrouds all visions of, transparency

Mind numbing, the specter of humanity’s bane

Remember when you were convinced you knew it all

The answers lie beyond yours or my control

Forget all the social capital, that road was wrong

Tallying up all your pathetic, sad “victories”

Paint a picture of pure perfection, the colours run

Down that canvas you’re so complacent, with calling home

Rise above falsified

Acts to alter your own

Perception of yourself

In the times you choose

With lust for power comes

The choice of annihilation

We cannot let ourselves

Fall to the temptation

Ourselves, our friends, our possessions

Will become null

The bonds between all, light the match and watch them all burn

Rust falls off the illusiory, and dormant seed

Spewing forth fallacious acts of diplomacy

Rain drops they dot my eyes in bare infamy

Nothing stops the course earth’s matriarch chooses to take

Rise above falsified

Acts to alter your own

Perception of yourself

In the times you choose

With lust for power comes

The choice of annihilation

We cannot let ourselves

Fall to the temptation

Ourselves, our friends, our possessions

Will become null

The bonds between all, light the match and watch them all burn

The thought of Cathartic Demise came into fruition on October 8, 2017, after high school friends Angus Pike (drums) and Bennett Smith (guitar/vocals) jammed for the first time, and immediately decided to form a group. Bennett had demos previously prepared, (two of the EP songs) and the week after Aaron Tanner would join the lineup, following a few weeks with Taylor Wrobkewski (guitar) quickly completing the quartet. The four rehearsed immensely over a eight-month period landing their first show. In December of 2018, the band entered into HM Studio, to record the self-titled three-track EP Cathartic Demise, released April 26, 2019. For the rest of the year, the band played around Ontario, and in January 2020, Cathartic Demise would begin the recording sessions of In Absence.

Lineup:

Slikt krydderet finner man blant annet i musikk.
