The Crooks: With a cacophony of sounds…..

The Crocks - Frankie

Today we take and explore music we usually do not write about and in addition some words about archeology!

Archeology in the city of Chesterfield has traced its beginnings to the 100th century and the construction of a Roman fortress, which later became redundant and abandoned as soon as peace was achieved. The band Crooks is from Chesterfield, but is a band with young musicians and the band plays indie/britpop/rock&roll.

Frankie is a track that is built around a fiery guitar solo, and a cacophony of sounds but begins with a hint of mysteria. The carefulness and alluring licks of the guitar create an atmospheric pulse before being pelted into a whirlwind of rock ‘n’ roll swagger. The smooth but endearing vocals wrap around the haunting riffs and it’s by far the most interesting track by The Crooks yet.

Frankie lyrics:

I’ve got a voice at night that’s keeping me awake

Speaking of all this confrontation I can’t take

It’s whispering a song of fiction in my ears

Weaving a trap before it disappears by day

Yeah I know I’ve got a lot I wanna say

I know I’ve got a lot I wanna say

It’s been some years and we are still confused, my dear

I brush the hair from your face and tell you what you need to hear

Biding our time has done its worst and now we have to fight

For what is wrong or right I just don’t know how to get us outta here

No I don’t know how to get us outta here

No I don’t know how to get us outta here

Cause heaven’s glowing my head’s been blowing

But I don’t know if I’m gonna make it

You keep saying, “It’s cool keep playing”

But time rolls on by without you and I

Cause heaven’s glowing my head’s been blowing

But I don’t know if I’m gonna make it

You keep saying “It’s cool keep playing”

But time rolls on by without you and I

The Crooks are set to release their brand new single Frankie on 1st March via Golden Robot Records. The group, consisting of Jacko, Chris, Duncan, Conor, and Tom formed in 2019 in which they released a plethora of sounds and tunes including one of their most popular songs Nevermind, a song that easily climbed over 100,000 Spotify streams.

Tipped as ones-to-watch for 2020, last year saw the band releasing a number of singles, including In Time and She Walks Alone securing the band’s intricate rock ‘n’ roll sound, which they gripped in the palms of their hand. Dabbling in their own brit-pop sound, The Crooks are taking a turn and are set to release their most liberating song to date but also shines a light on their melodic wall of sound that everyone has grown to love.

The Croocks might just be the band to steal more than your attention they might just steal your soul, a case of grand larceny at its finest.

The Crooks is a 5-Piece Indie rock band hailing from Chesterfield, England previously best known for the famous crooked spire of the Church of St Mary and All Saints but that has changed The Crooks have replaced the Crooked (from the Crooked spire) as the most admired attraction in Chesterfield.

Jacko, Chris Stones, Duncan Couch, Conor Fletcher and Jonathan Keeler are The Crooks and collectively they deliver a villainously huge melodic, anthemic wall of sound that will soon become embedded in your heart and etched in your mind forever.

Drawing influence from DMA’s, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Verve and co. topped off with a nicely adopted punk tinge, they’re a brand-new band with a fresh outlook on the classic timeless melody driven rock sound for 2020.

2019 saw the band release a plethora of singles, most recently an edgy rock anthem called Silhouette Sunshine. Silhouette Sunshine was the follow up single to the expressive and balladesque She Walks Alone which was released in January 2020 and shows a different side to the band. Over 26,000 plus streams in the first week on Spotify alone is an amazing achievement for a band that was only 9 months old. The track was also picked as This Feeling Track Of The Week and played by RadioX (UK) DJ Gordon Smart. 2020 also saw the release of the critically acclaimed single ‘In Time’.

The Crooks are currently averaging over 42,500 streams per week on Spotify alone and the bands social media has hit record numbers with most videos hitting well over 30,000 views and currently hitting over 200,000 views.

2019 saw The Crooks sell out shows in England and Scotland and took the industry by the scruff of the neck and they did not let go in 2020 despite difficult times.

The Crooks have received airplay around the globe and on national radio stations including RadioX, BBC Introducing and several stations in the U.S.A, South America and all over Europe.

About Ulf Backstrøm (7231 Articles)
Slikt krydderet finner man blant annet i musikk.
