Klink: Toured Eastern Europe in a strikingly beautiful blue Volkswagen van!

Klink – Waste Of Time

Dutch indie rock formation Klink have released their new music video for their single called Waste Of Time. Enigmatic, contemporary and a little quirky. In fact, there is nothing ordinary about the indie pop band Klink. However, the music somehow still feels familiar – like meeting up with an old friend. After starting out as an alternative indie rock band with essential nineties roots, Klink have now opened the doors to a more modern, danceable sound. The intriguing lyrics have purposefully been crafted just as conscientiously as have the adventurous compositions.

Inspired by acts such as Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, The Cure, Bob Dylan and Roxy Music, the music of Klink is something that you’d definitely love. Primarily the brainchild of singer/lyricist Tjeerd Blom, who along with Merlijn Verboom (Teus Nobel) and Harm Timmermans (Hartman), forms the core team of Klink. Together they employ the force of energy and the feeling of melancholy to direct their creative process.

Waste Of Time video has been shot at a vocal masterclass session featuring Annemiek Blom and Marion Boxum at Wisseloord Studios Hilversum. The original audio recordings are done at Gemengd Bedrijf Limmen.

«The song is about a typical millennial problem: people want attention and it doesn’t matter how or when, as long as it’s impressive. And because the audience is overflowed by all kinds of visual content of people who seek attention, they don’t care about anything as long as it doesn’t waste their time. Although the contradiction is, it’s all a waste of time (like any Instagram/Facebook post is)… And the audience wants it, as it is looking for something to turn off their brain and scroll through a Facebook wall and just kill or waste time to numb our mind. But on the other hand, if someone creates this kind of content it’s not seen as something that really matters to evolution of mankind. Then all of a sudden it’s worth nothing, it’s a cry for attention and a waste of time” – the band explains the meaning behind the song».

Gotta Get Out is their motto and also the name of Klink’s new EP that was recently released. The EP Gotta Get Out was released in the COVID-era, because the title and theme about going outside, seeking adventure and the desire for freedom, is more relevant than ever. And it can help anyone who seeks refuge in music and wants to dance or forget what limitations we still face. For the accompanying video clip, the group shouted out to their audience for home videos which illustrated their own dance at home and how they were dealing with the corona virus. The dream for Klink is therefore to bring everyone closer together by means of music – whether or not virtually. These self-made clips are combined in a dance act of front man Tjeerd, supported by all the dancing contributors.

Poetic lyrics

The band name Klink has no deeper meaning, apart from the Dutch meaning: handle or sound, although the group does turn the handle to open doors to new musical experiences. For something profound you can check out the carefully arranged lyrics which cover a range of topics From The Ego Man  to Wasting Your Own Or Someone Else’s Time With Dull Things. Everyday themes, but with a poetic twist.

Klink already toured Eastern Europe in a strikingly beautiful blue Volkswagen van. This was such a success that the group will be hitting the road again for Sarajevo, Belgrade and Bucharest.

Their next tour will start after the release of their coming new EP or album. This will be expected to happen in fall 2021.

The original audio recordings are done at Gemengd Bedrijf Limmen.

Slikt krydderet finner man blant annet i musikk.
