Svarta Sanningar: Swedish occult post-rock and dark metal band…..

Svarta Sanningar – Kapitel 2

Svarta Sanningar

Today Svarta Sanningar (Swe) will release the EP Kapitel 2, which is a stand-alone sequel to the previous EP Kapitel 1 from 2018. The band’s music can best be described as occult post-rock with elements of goth and metal. Svarta Sanningar has also built an entire concept around a fictional backstory, which includes an occult order society with the same name as the band. Unique, incredibly well thought out and tickling. Do you dare to throw yourself into the darkness with Svarta Sanningar as your companions?

The overall experience of Kapitel 2 can be summed up as a horror movie on VHS and an H.P Lovecraft drama on steroids. The songs are extremely well-written, professionally produced and an obvious continuation of the dark drama that began with the first EP. Already on the debut, the band found their unique sound, but this time they have taken it all one step further. Everything from artwork to song structure is now even sharper and finely honed to perfection. If you are attracted to Depeche Mode in their darkest moments, you will love this. Other more obvious references such as Ghost and Opeth must of course also be mentioned, but to fully understand Svarta Sanningar you must listen. Let yourself be embraced by the darkness. There is a high probability that you will stay. Welcome.

The band’s journey began in 2017 with two old friends, lukewarm beer and a dinner at a Chinese joint in Gothenburg. The founder the gothic metal band Beseech, Klas Bohlin (vocals) and Jonas Persson (guitar) were talking about music and vinyl records, but were also a bit excited in founding a new band. Svarta Sanningar was formed shortly after in the city of Borås, when Mattias Lejon (bass) and Håkan Carlsson (drums / Beseech), became a part of the dark musical vision.

In November 2018, the first EP Kapitel 1 was released. Despite lyrics in Swedish, Svarta Sanningar caught most attention outside Sweden, but also in respected media such as Inferno (Fin), Legacy Mag (Ger), RockHard (Ger), Made in Metal (Esp), Cryptic Rock (Usa) and S.O.S Heavy Metal Radio (Prt).

Svarta Sanningar (Black Truths) is a Swedish occult post-rock and dark metal band. Their music can also be associated with bands like Ghost, Depeche Mode and Kent (Swe).

Svarta Sanningar was founded in 2017 in the city of Borås, by among others Klas Bohlin and Håkan Carlsson from the gothic metal band Beseech. In November 2018 their first EP “Kapitel 1” was released. Despite lyrics in Swedish the EP caught most attention outside Sweden, but also in highly respected media such as Inferno (Fin), Legacy Mag (Ger), RockHard (Ger), Made in Metal (Esp), Cryptic Rock (Usa) and S.O.S Heavy Metal Radio (Prt) whom also helped out making a digital release party.

Their story began with a warm beer and a (2 out of 5) dinner at a Chinese joint in Gothenburg. Two old friends, Klas Bohlin (vocals) and Jonas Persson (guitar) were talking about music and old records, but were also a bit excited in founding a new band.

A few days later, they met Mattias Lejon (bass) and Håkan Carlsson (drums) for a jam and the creative process took off, deep into the darkness. Besides the music, another dimension to their work is the thrilling backstory of the mysterious order society called Svarta Sanningar, that were active in Sweden during the 70s. According to an unconfirmed conspiracy theory, the order also seemed to be connected with the great landslide that took place on the island Fjärrö, outside Gothenburg on the 29th of September 1976. The results became a story of screams, horror and devilry ridden by occultism, ritual killings and corporate scandals. The whole idea was to re-capture some of the atmosphere from old horror B-movies but also with great inspiration from the work of H.P. Lovecraft’s “Re-Animator”.

The future is anything but bright…

Since the band members have years of experience from the music industry, graphic design and album releases (via record labels such as Napalm, Metalblade and Despotz) the band chose to continue on a D.I.Y basis, with a few exceptions. By music lovers – For music lovers! Prior to the release of “Kapitel 2”, important partnerships have been initiated with Republic 66 (Swe) and Grand Sounds PR (Eur). Their task involves a massive promotion campaign, with the aim of creating a great interest in Svarta Sanningar.

On Friday the 7th of May, the nail biter, single and video for the song “Kemisk Reinkarnation” will be released. The music video was filmed at Borås Stadsteater in a traditional theater environment on a large stage with massive lighting. This laid the foundation for an exciting drama that gave the song an extra dimension, but also a hint of how it might be to watch Svarta Sanningar playing live. The video will be public and available to share on May 7.

As mentioned above, on Friday the 21st of May, Svarta Sanningar’s second EP Kapitel 2 will be released. This time everything has been taken to the next level. Better production, greater songs and a visually strong concept that connects the whole.

2021 & 2022. For the future, they are looking at the possibilities of playing live, but also to keep the dark force flowing by writing on their next chapter. The portal to the darkness is always open for business, new collaborations or booking live gigs.

Slikt krydderet finner man blant annet i musikk.
