Noisecide is my first encounter with a band from Paraguay, and it is a pleasant acquaintance with talented musicians. The single Falling Upwards lasts around four minutes and sits at a steady 120bpm. The track commences with a thirty-two-second intro that sets the tone for the vocal line. The vocal color is stylistic and emotive; seamlessly synchronizing with the intense vibe of the instrumental accompaniment. The foundational bass, distorted electric guitars, steady percussion and electronic elements combine to provide the perfect platform for the vocal.
The use of a pitch-shifted/effected vocal during instrumental sections and the hook, check out 1:33 to 1:37, adds depth and creative flair to the overall sound without detracting from the flow of the main melodic progression. The contrast between the sung verses and the powerful intensity of the hook-line delivers just the right amount of dynamic diversity to ensure that this track is engaging from start to finish. By the time ‘Failing Upwards’ draws to a close, you’ll find yourself caught up in the hypnotic vibe of the single and in need of hitting that repeat button for another listen.
From the well-balanced production and creative instrumentation to the impressive vocal performance, fans of Noisecide, as well as those who appreciate new music, will definitely want to hear this single. Make sure you follow Noisecide on social media to keep up to date with upcoming releases and performances!
