«That is: We have been out playing before in recent years, but not on a number of consecutive dates like now», says Nordhus.
The band opens the tour on January 29 in Vennesla culture house, and it ends on March 18 in the concert hall in Kilden. Green Carnation played there last in 2016 in front of 1000 spectators from 17 different countries.
In addition to vocalist Nordhus, the 2022 version of the band consists of Michael Smith Krumins (guitar), Stein Roger Sordal (bass / vocals), Trond Breen (guitar / lap steel), Kenneth Silden (keyboards / vocals) and Jonathan Perez (percussion / percussion) .
Besides Vennesla and Kristiansand, the tour stops in Hamburg, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki and of all places: Hurum. The latter venue is the concert under the auspices of the Hurum Progrock Society, and the venue is We Låve Rock.
«I have had some contact and collaboration with them, and it was a good idea to put a concert there on the return», says Nordhus.
Otherwise, there are varying sizes of scenes the band will perform, before it all ends with the biggest in Kilden. There is also the possibility that there may be some bonus and staffing in the form of extra musicians or elaborate production.
The tour is called The Acoustic Verses Tour 2022, and it is connected with a new release of the album of the same name. The fully acoustic release was first released in 2006. The same year it was performed in its entirety under the dam at Nåvatn in Åseral. Under The Dam – came out on DVD the following year before the band went on a ten-year break.
«This time the record also comes on colored vinyl. It has been remastered, and it has more songs than the original release. The reception and interest has actually been quite surprisingly good. That says a lot about how much the album means to people around the world», says Nordhus.
Green Carnation celebrated its 20th anniversary in the pandemic year 2020. It was a downturn, for the anniversary ended with a streamed party concert in front of an empty Caledonia Hall. The concert was admittedly seen by 70,000, while the two postponed anniversary concerts the same autumn had to be canceled.
«You can probably say the air went a little out of us until 2021, but yes: It is still composed and worked with new music», says Nordhus.
Now the band is all the more looking forward to finally getting out and playing for people again, and the first concert will be in Vennesla over the New Year.
