MeVsMyself: Hundreds of voice tracks create an incredible landscape of sounds.

Girogio Pinardi and his brainchild MeVsMyself have a brief youtube teaser, where all sounds you’ll hear are produced by  Pinardi and no other instruments added.

ICAMus – The International Center for American Music states about the video «An evocative, original video and concept of music, that transcends boundaries between different places and cultures. Thank you for your work!».

MeVsMyself is Giorgio Pinardi’s Voice Solo project from Italy where hundreds of voice tracks create an incredible landscape of sounds inspired by ethnic and electronic music and many vocal techniques and cultures from all over the world. A non-verbal universal language is used to create fascinating and different improvisations where Voice is the only instrument that becomes rhythm, harmony and melody. The track Khnum,

Giorgio Pinardi (MeVsMyself) began his musical career as a child, singing in the child choir of La Scala Theater in Milan, where he studied opera singing and had the chance to take part in high quality pieces. After spending his adolescence away from Voice and dedicating to the study of several musical instruments, he started to study and research again. He then realizes that Voice is the most suitable instruments for the expression of his art, mainly through modern music and vocal experimentation.

This is where an intense time of education, both national and international, begins, which will bring him to enhance Voice from different perspectives – extended vocal techniques, improvisation, experimentation, body percussion – in search for his own path. The track Gurfa,

After years playing with bands, a number of live Voice solo performances tells him that the time has come to record an album, in which Voice is the sole instrument involved, based on both musical and anthropological research over worldwide cultures. In 2015 “Yggdrasil” comes to life, Giorgio’s debut studio album, much enjoyed by the audience and appreciated by the critics. This was a first step into the definition of a new way of understanding Voice Solo: an album made of no songs but soundscapes born from impromptu improvisations, then edited, mixed and mastered at the Panidea Studios in Alessandria. A big role in this phase was played by Paolo Novelli, both sound engineer and co-arranger of the album. The track Tin Hinan,

This first work let him be noticed and leads to the chance of performing in several festivals, among which: Turmik Festival (Bologna), Ba’a Fest (Milano), Vocalmente (Fossano, CN), Isola Rock (Isola della Scala, VR), Pandora Improv Festival (Pontenure, PC), CorreVoce (Piossasco, TO).

In the meantime he is selected among artists all over the world to be part of the experimental vocal  compilation “Vocology #01 – Phonosurgery”, produced by the German label Atemwerft. He is also selected among artists all over Europe for the first Loop Contest of the acappella festival Vocalmente.

2019 sees the release of the studio album Mictlàn, with greater appreciation of both audience and critics, going international. This sets another step forward towards the definition of a very personal artistic path, in which western and ethnic music merge. In this new work many new and different style quotations and techniques are pulled together by the attempt of achieving the sensitive and musical exploration of a hypothetical dimension beyond life on earth, true core of the album. The sound of this dimension is conceived as both a physical space and a spiritual one; a sound made of timbres, phonemes and emotional impressions able to leave the listener free to find one’s own key in understanding the pieces.

During the years, Giorgio Pinarrdi, has played and performed with several internationally renowned musicians, mainly bond to experimental, world and jazz music.

About Ulf Backstrøm (7226 Articles)
Slikt krydderet finner man blant annet i musikk.
