The grunge remains the core of the music, but Sister May certainly doesn’t cling to it. The structure of the songs has a solid progressive slant with many tempo changes. Also samples and even influences from screamo and new wave contribute to an experimental, yet accessible whole. The key work of the last 2 years is clearly bearing fruit. The rapid interaction between the various influences is guided by the excellent guitar playing and drums. The final punch is delivered by an emotional and often pained vocals by Bert Goethals, who emphasize the climaxes with screaming ejaculations. At first this happens sporadically, but on Revolution the pent-up emotions break completely out of their container. Both the sound and the message cut through the marrow one last time.
