New Paltz is named after Palatinate, dialect the name of Palatinate, called Palatinate in Standard German. From New Paltz hails the band Involute and their album Hindsight is an impressing debut album.

The New Paltz band plays complex prog metal but there are fair amount of math rock and jazz in the music. They describe the music as fusion and yes it`s correct. Carina Kohn is a very good vocalist and she is supported by four very skilled musician that obviously enjoy play together. The music has plenty of polyrhythms and technicality and the listener could listen to many delicious instrumental passages. Sometime as a bonus there are ambient passages with a post rock vibe.
