The most innocent and childish joy embedded in the gurgling creek where the ancestor spirits used to spend their summertime, an inexplicable feeling of nostalgia and lost, like feathers being pushed around aimlessly by the fierce wind before storm; thunder, the howling thunder, and those fairy tales passed down by residents of rainforest for centuries, all are here, in Inpariquipê, Kaatayra’s swansong.
Ever since our previous collaboration, this Brazilian one-man atmospheric black metal project has been one of our most cherished associates in recent years. His third full length Só Quem Viu o Relâmpago à Sua Direita Sabe (released in 2020) has already presented the listeners a longing and otherworldly dreamscape formed (almost entirely) out of folk music, with hints of black metal here and there. Inpariquipê pushed this approach even further, the end result is an splendid masterpiece covering romantic and mesmerizing post rock, minimalistic electronic trance as well as unruly and animated rhythms of rainforest folk.
One might agree that there’s no trace of black metal in it anymore. But it doesn’t matter really. This is amongst the most unique and sincere music we’ve heard this year, and is probably the most personal and meaningful one for Kaatayra as well. It is our greatest pleasure to release Inpariquipê as digipak cds in this late December！
