Esthesis: With many influences as prog, british rock, film score, jazz, ambient, metal, electro …

Esthesis - Place Your Bets

Esthesis is a progressive & alternative rock project by French multi-instrumentalist Aurélien Goude. The music is characterized by many influences (prog, british rock, film score, jazz, ambient, metal, electro…) and primarily based on emotion and ambiences.

Esthesis is a progressive & alternative rock project formed and led by French multi-instrumentalist Aurélien Goude (music, lyrics, keyboards, vocals, guitars, bass and other stuff). The current lineup is composed of three other musicians : Baptiste Desmares (lead guitar), Marc Anguill (bass) and Arnaud Nicolau (drums).

After a first sold out EP in 2019 (Raising Hands), Esthesis released a debut album in November 2020 (The Awakening). The Awakening has been acclaimed by many rock magazines around the world and Esthesis won the Prog Magazine Reader’s Poll in December 2020 (best unsigned band 2020).

A new single, Place Your Bets, has been released on 15th June 2022, with a brand new music video. The track will feature on the upcoming and highly anticipated album Watching Worlds Collide, which will be released on 19th August 2022. The new Esthesis album will be produced and distributed by the independent label and music Production Company Misty Tones, founded by Aurélien Goude. The attached picture is taken from the video Place Your Bets,

Aurélien Goude explains, «This second album is less ambient than The Awakening. From the beginning, I wanted a very different record, complementary to my previous work. The sound of this album is more in your face’, more modern with electro elements. Leprous, Rammstein and Massive Attack inspired me a little on some textures of keyboards and voices».

«The album is quite jazzy too, with a fantastic brass trio playing on several tracks. The cinematic aspect is once again very important in this Esthesis album. It’s very film noir».

«The use of brass elements was inspired by composers like John Barry. I’m a big fan of his work for James Bond movies, like Goldfinger, You Only Live Twice, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. When I was a child, I listened to this music over and over! It’s clearly one of the major inspirations of the album for me, just like Goldfrapp and Talk Talk once again».

«I completely agree with artists who wanted to evolve throughout their careers like David Bowie, Thom Yorke, Kate Bush, Steven Wilson or Talk Talk. I will continue to do the same with Esthesis».

«The third album, which I have already started, will once again be very different, much more electro and industrial, a bit like Bjork, Portishead and Nine Inch Nails».

I must comment this statement, It`s great when musicians explores new sonic landscape and not only make a blueprint on their first album.

Slikt krydderet finner man blant annet i musikk.
