Expedition: The sky’s the limit for them, and they want to spread their music across the globe.

Expedition – A Good Day To Die

Hailing from county Donegal, Ireland, Expedition was formed by founding members Caoimhghin Boyle and Ewan Kavanagh, who both had discovered a new found love for thrash metal, in October 2020. Then in December 2020 , Reuben Kavanagh was added. With the music scene all but dead due to the pandemic, the trio worked hard to hone their skills and spent the next six months writing.

Fast forward to the summer of 2021, the band finally found their long awaited bassist in the form of Oisin O’Brien. The four then agreed on the name Expedition and finally, the ensemble was complete.

The band then started playing local gigs and soon released their debut single Within The Shadows which helped spread the word of Expedition, that Irish thrash metal was back. All four band members contribute to the writing process, bouncing riffs off of each other and drum parts until the end product is formed.

The four strive for perfection and will write for hours on end until the perfect composition has been formed. Expedition recently took on Ireland’s capital, Dublin, as they were selected to take part in heat five of Bloodstock’s Metal To The Masses in Fibber MaGees.

This set the stage for them to release their debut EP, A Good Day To Die. It was recorded in Hedgehog Studios (Donegal, Ireland) and was mixed/ mastered by Nigel Hegarty With all the albums fast paced and relentless riffs, thrash metal is certainly making a lot of noise here in Ireland again.Expedition is making its mark on the Irish metal scene, but the band doesn’t want to stop there.  The sky’s the limit for them, and they want to spread their music across the globe.

About Ulf Backstrøm (7433 Articles)
Slikt krydderet finner man blant annet i musikk.
