Cosmography is the science that maps the general properties of the cosmos or universe, and describes both heaven and earth, but without interfering with geography or astronomy. In addition, Cosmograf is a band name!

Cosmograf offers progressive conceptual rock music with 9 albums released since 2008, including the critically acclaimed When Age Has Done Its Duty and The Man Left In Space.

Cosmograf is the brainchild of multi-instrumentalist Robin Armstrong, have released a video for brand new single British Made, from their forthcoming ninth studio album Heroic Materials. An affectionate tribute to a golden era of motoring in the 1960s.   A defining era in the journey of the motor car iscoming to an end as the world rejects fossil fuels in favor of electric power.

William Billy May looks back on his life at the age of 99 and realizes the world has completely changed since he was a young man put into an impossible scenario, defending his country from the air. He no longer recognizes much of the modern world but understands that the human race must live in a different way in the future. The track British Made,

The new album was released on Gravity Dream on 9th September through label Gravity, and this is Armstrong`s own label. The album is conceptual and is centered on the character William Billy May, who looks back on his life at the age of 99 and realizes the world has completely changed since he was a young man put into an impossible scenario, defending his country from the air. He no longer recognizes much of the modern world but understands that the human race must live in a different way in the future.

The album sees the character wrestling with his memories of the war, and harboring nostalgia for a past era but he realizes that change is essential if we are to avoid climate catastrophe. The track The Stay,

Armstrong states, «This album is really about change, our refusal to accept it, but also recognizing that it’s essential to our survival, The story centers on a WWII Spitfire pilot who laments a lost golden era, but reflects that the human race must change its ways in order to preserve our existence on the earth».

The album will also see a special guest appearance from Armstron`s ex-Big Big Train bandmate, keyboard player Danny Manners, who plays piano on the 13 min title track, set in three parts.

Heroic Materials will be available on CD, Deluxe Media book edition, vinyl and digital formats.

Mitt hovedfokus er musikk som er basert på progressiv tenking. Jeg er på ingen måte ensporet innen musikksmak, i likhet med intensjonen bak prog. Sjangerbegrepet er egentlig temmelig uinteressant annet enn til å gi en pekepinn om hva slags musikk det er snakk om i en anmeldelse. Jeg søker god musikk for å utfordre meg som lytter. God musikk til å trigge mine musikalske smaksløker, og til å sette i gang mine refleksjoner. Da er sjansen stor for at jeg utvikler meg og lærer, noe som bør være drivstoff for et hvert menneske. Fordi det å lære og utvikle seg er noe som tilfører livet en nødvendig porsjon "krydder". Slikt krydderet finner man blant annet i musikk. Ikke overraskende mener jeg at progressiv musikk har den fineste "smaken". På den annen side kan musikk med eller uten progressive elementer være godt nok til hverdags. Til fest derimot holder bare rendyrket prog! Må jo også få med at jeg rimelig kritisk, og jeg mener at det lages mye prog som er i beste fall uinteressant, og faktisk mye som er pinlig dårlig. Heldigvis oppveies dette av ekstremt dyktige aktører som for eksempel: Flower Kings, Mostly Autumn og White Willow, for å nevne noen tilfeldig valgte.
