Blackheart Orchestra: Offers extraordinaire and beautiful music.

Blackheart Orchestra – Hotel Utopia

Manchester has a population of 552,858. The inhabitants are called Mancunians or simply Mancs. Two of the inhabitants are Chrissy Mostyn and Rick Pilkington!

Manchester have much to offer as the two famous football team, and much more as the band Oasis and much more. Within more is the very skilled prog duo The Blackheart Orchestra and in September they will release their latest album Hotel Utopia. In this world there are not many band as Blackheart Orchestra, because this band produces quite extraordinary and beautiful music

Blackheart Orchestra is officially the smallest orchestra in the world. Two people playing 13 instruments between them, Chrissy Mostyn and Rick Pilkington perform in what has been described as a ‘musical space station’ of instruments including guitar, bass, percussion, mandala, piano, organ, omnichord and their collection of vintage synthesizers.

After over 1000 concerts and 3 albums they’ve played everywhere from Southampton to Sydney including London’s Palladium and Royal Albert Hall while piling up achievements from a nomination for the Progressive Music Limelight Award, Best British Duo, #4 Best New British Band, and #10 Most Important Rock Event of 2020.

More recently their Mesmeranto album charted at #18 in the UK Rock Chart, single If You Tolerate This made #22 in the iTunes chart and Chrissy Mostyn was voted in the Top 5 World Female Vocalists in Prog Magazine’s 2021 Readers’ Poll.

The Blackheart Orchestra return to action by sharing their striking new video The Tide. This track is taken from the band’s upcoming album Hotel Utopia, which will be released through Ceandar Records on September 23.

While 2019 Mesmeranto was based on the concept of death, inspired by singer Chrissy Mostyn’s mother who was nearing the end of her life, Hotel Utopia takes a musical look at the afterlife. The Tide specifically deals with her mother’s passing and the impact the subsequent grief had on her body and spirit.

«Hotel Utopia is 13 songs about the afterlife», Mostyn explains. «It holds the listener’s hand along a musical journey that meditates on our fears and fantasies of ‘heaven’ stopping off en route at murder, suicide, the end of the world and reincarnation. Hotel Utopia is an audio movie for the listener’s mind, emotions and imagination».

About Ulf Backstrøm (7417 Articles)
Slikt krydderet finner man blant annet i musikk.
