Consider The Source: A very peculiar blend of music!

Consider The Source are a kind of sci-fi Middle Eastern funk fusion band and in the beginning of March they released their fifth album You Are Literally A Metaphor. A funny and very good album title I think! The band are influenced by very diversed artist like John McLaughlin, The Bad Plus, U. Srinivas, John Coltrane, John Zorn, Frank Zappa, Claude Debussy, ELP, David Fiucznski, Nguyen Le, David Krakaue, Debashish Bhattacharya, Primus, Mr. Bungle, David Cossin, Victor Wooten, Karsh Kale, Jonas Hellborg, Dave Douglas, TOOL, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Samir Chatterjee, Tigran Hamasyan, Todd Reynolds, Rufus Cappadoccia, Les Claypool, Talib Kwali and Mos Def, Pieter K, Avishai Cohen, Bach, The Simpsons! The very nice track Enemies Of MagicK,

US outfit Consider The Source were formed by Gabriel Marin (fretless guitar, fretless chaturangui), John Ferrara (bass) and Justin Ahiyon (drums, percussion, samples). Later Justin Ahiyon was replaced of Jeff Mann. The threesome at once started writing material covering their wide range of influences, and released a demo 14 years ago. A style with a very peculiar blend of Middle Eastern scales, psychedelic jams, Indian inspired micro-tonal scale structures, fusion and surging heavy rock. Consider The Source lives up to the original progressive concept, they are progressive in every thinkable ways! Experimental sci-fi prog worth listening to!
