R.I.P. Roky Erickson
Roger Kynard Roky Erickson died the night of Saturday’s local time in Austin, Texas. The death is confirmed by his brother Sumner Erickson, according to Variety. The cause of the death is not known, writes Rolling Stone. «The world has lost a great light and an incredible soul», says Sumner Ericksen to Austin360. «It was not the easiest life, but he is free from all that now,» brother continues in his statement. Sumner Erichson has since 2001 served as guardian of his brother Roky Erickson. The rock star’s life was characterized by psychological problems and drugs. Roky Erickson was 71 years old.

Roky Erichson has gained a cult status for his music, but is also known for a life characterized by psychological problems and drugs. In 1969, he was arrested for being in possession of a joint, but he relied on mental illness and sentenced the sentence to a mental hospital.
