From the heights of the French Alps and the city Claix comes Epitaphe. They delivers a cavernous and fascinating psychedelic death metal. The music stands very positive out in the crowd with their inspired set of individuals devoted to chaotic creation and experimental extreme metal. The French band is rooted in obscure death metal but they are also influenced by doom metal and black metal. They have recently release their first full-length album I. The track Embers,
The album I starts with dark soundscapes and drones and with a real epic song that also contains some distorted noise. Later the song turns into heavier and atmospheric funeral doom and actually real grim black metal screams. Epitaphe evokes vain attempts of existence to face inherent chaos and drenched with demonic sounding growls and spoken words. Epitaphe have a dark, powerful and melodic sound, but there are also many blast beats and fast riffs. Some acoustics part adds a dynamic vibe and also synths parts is something I think make the music more interesting. The production is solid, good and dark, and the lyrics deals with reflection about death, darkness and despair among many other topic. The track Dawnward Stream,
