Solstorm: With contrast between darkness and light
Solstorm – II

From the weather bitten west coast of Norway comes Solstorm. Solstorm (solar storm) is the mind work of Ognoise (Bjørn Ognøy), a noise talent from Kopervik on the west coast of Norway. Emigrating to Bergen with Jaran Hereid and Camilo Beltran from death metal act Goliathon, they formed the line-up of Solstorm together with Helge Taksdal and drummer Mads Lilletvedt (Hellish Outcast, Byfrost). Concentrating mainly on apocalyptic themes, creating the sound of Armageddon and the inevitable end of all things Solstorm combine noise with doom and anti-euphoric stoner metal. The band is probably for fans of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Swans, Sumac, Cult of Luna, Årabrot, Bongripper. Finally the first single Eklips from the long awaited second album II from Solstorm.
Solstorm released their first full-length in March 2011, with a sound so alarming, dismal and alien, you’d be forgiven for thinking the world had gone under. Solstorm combine riffs sharp as nails, beats heavy as a mammoth and a genuine feeling of sheer hopelessness, resulting in one of the most poignant and captivating doom releases in years. Think Neurosis and Cult Of Luna at their heaviest for some kind of reference, but rest assured Solstorm scorch their very own hole in the atmosphere. On the new album all this is refined and even much better carved out.
After years in hibernation, the multi headed monster named Solstorm has awakened again which will be released on October 4th. Solstorm is the contrast between darkness and light, the beautiful and the ugly, the delicate and the heavy. Solstorm combines heavy riffs, hard drums and walls of noise with tender melodies and soaring instrumental passages – and have been compared to bands such as Isis, Neurosis, Cult Of Luna and Jesu, to name a few.The album II is the culmination of eight years of musical maturing. New thoughts. New times. New members, new collaborations.
