De Press`s music are an elusive blend of Polish folklore and European new wave, and in the lyrics Andrej Nebb elegantly alternates between Polish, Norwegian and English! The story of De Press starts in the spring of 1980. Polish Andrej Nebb (Andrzej Dziubek) had joined the band Pullout, forming De Press with Jørn Christensen on guitar and Ola Snortheim on drums. The world around was characterized by the cold war between the superpowers. In Poland, workers in Gdansk strike at the Lenin shipyard, and the independent trade union Solidarity was established. This inspired Nebb’s lyrics, which is reflected in the album title on his debut album Block To Block which was released in 1981.
