O Zorn: Bigger, bolder and more diverse

O Zorn is a three piece act from Long Beach California, and they plays loud as fuck. The band was formed in 2010 and led by vocalist/guitarist Bill Kielty and deliver a pulverizing post-sludge. O Zorn is a trio of veterans from the Long Beach underground scene. Their story began as most do, jams, shows, demos and shirts. More importantly, as Kielty and his comrades plied their nascent trade, they conjured a fearless and ferocious sound that molded the very best of doom, sludge, hardcore and psychedelic extremity into a single, streamlined roar of gargantuan riffing power and fiercely focused angst. The album Your Killer is a sequel to their self-titled debut album. The track Casket filmed on the cheap. Two iPhones, a GoPro, a couple of strobe lights and a fog machine. Let’s fuckin dance!

O Zorn are in an unforgiving mood on Your Killer. Bigger, bolder, more diverse and yet ever more focused than its predecessor, it showcases the subtle evolution of the band’s sound and the renewed strength drawn from the current line-up of Bill Kielty, co-guitarist Billy Meyer and drummer Danny Walker.

«The general theme of the album is human suffering, in whatever shape or form that may be», says Bill Kielty. «The distress from war and sickness. Hopelessness and homelessness. The search for something bigger and never finding it. The let-downs. Never finding or being loved. Getting suckered in. Substance abuse. Letting people down». The track Your Killer Live,

«Your Killer has been a true labor of love», says Bill Kielty. «My brains were scrambled at the end of recording this new record. So many obstacles, so many setbacks. For me though, and I know I speak for the other two, writing songs is as necessary as eating or sleeping. It’s something that I’ve always just done. I did it when I flipped burgers. I did it when I sold furniture. It’ll never stop».
