Angerot states, «2019 delivered us a few twists and setbacks….to which we retaliate in 2020.
A couple of years ago Angerot turned heads in the underground metal scene with the release of their debut album The Splendid Iniquity in 2018. Enlisting the infamous Tomas Skogsberg at Sunlight Studios to help invoke some Swedish magic to the project, The Splendid Iniquity was a solid introduction for the band and received a plethora of positive reviews.
Permafrost wrote an article about The Splendid Iniquity. We wrote among other, «The band consists of four very experienced musicians who have performed with death metal since the genre was formed. The quartet is undoubtedly extremely dedicated to death metal. The band is from the city of Sioux Fall, which indicates that the Sioux Indians were once in the area. Another digression is that Sioux Fall is a city with many Norwegian-speaking inhabitants». The track Below The Deep And Dreamless Sleep
For the new album The Divine Apostate Angerot recruited guests Snowy Shaw ( King Diamond, Memento Mori, Notre Dame, etc ), Terrance Hobbs (Suffocation), and Ben Ash (Carcass, Satyricon – live) to add a little extra pop to this already fresh dish.
It`s a great pleasure to hear that the growth of this band from their debut is massive. While this new offering includes the HM-2 worship plastered all over their debut, the Swedish elements are toned down immensely and are replaced with a nice palate of Death Metal and Black Metal leanings that range from early-mid Morbid Angel years to Behemoth of the last decade. The band also found a way to incorporate outside ingredients to aid in with the grandiosity.
