Nizhny Novgorod was founded in 1221 by Prince Yury Vsevolodovich of Vladimir. Many centuries later, the band Offret is founded in Nizhny Novgorod. They have recently finished their new album The Beast. That album is brimming with post-black metal, dark synth and acoustic sound landscapes. The songs are about the dark side of human.
In a semantic context this is a return to dark times at the dawn of mankind. All the lyrics are in Russian, it is about primal fear, cannibalism, animal desires, early religious beliefs and interspecific struggle for existence within the human population.
Offret is the one man band from Russia playing dark atmospheric metal with influence of black, folk and doom. The sound heavily based on acoustic guitars, trombones and distorted by Sunn Model T amp bass.
Some people who don’t know the language say that Russian lyrics make them feel even more anxious. But you can read the translation in English at Bandcamp in lyrics and listen to the music.
The Beast is recorded, mixed and mastered by Alexey Petrov at his home. Additional vocal by Ksenia from Supruga.
